Movie Review: Fukrey Returns
Story Glimpse for Fukrey Returns
Just as Hunny (Pulkit Samrat), Choocha (Varun Sharma), Lali (Manjot Singh) and Zafar (Ali Fazal) are reaping the fruits of their misadventures from one year back; they are pulled up by the dreaded don, Lali. She is back from prison early and wants to continue from where they left off. For More visit your nearest theatres, we are here to share spoilers only. (Jokes apart).
Fukrey Returns Movie Review
If you want to watch the “Fukrey Returns” then there is no compulsion to watch the first part, because the movie clearly explains the entire story in the opening credits. However, it’s a movie which is funny and we would like to recommend you, its a one time watch. As it’s the second part it has to funnier than the first part. That familiar craziness you’ve seen in the characters is not just back; it has doubled, in fact.
In this sequel, Lali (Manjot Singh) is out of prison and she is completely broke. She wants a lot more cash from them and once again uses their special skills to find them and complete her coffers and repay the scheming politician Billu Bhatia who helped her to get out of jail. As always, their scheme to pay Lali goes awry and they are dragged in deeper as newer villains emerge who also want a piece of the action.
The strongest aspects of the film are the performances & characters of the movie and once again, the Choocha is all time favorite and Scene Stealer, he has played the role of an affable weirdo who has the superpowers to watch bizarre dreams which always helps him to win a lottery.
In this sequel, his superpowers have evolved, but sadly his mind hasn’t evolved that much and he still pronounces Goa as Goya, also get hallucinations and he still thinks that Lali does love him. The real surprise package is the performance of comedian Pankaj Tripathi who is playing the role of Panditji, the scheming college watchman who was also there is “Fukrey”.
They all are supposed to grow in their roles. The depth of the characters should be clear. The Delhi slang or just acting slow isn’t enough to entertain the audience. The only thing which could have covered for it was the fluidity of the story. But they aren’t perfect in that either.
You can blame it on the success of the original part, or you can say the four-year-gap between the two films, Fukrey Returns isn’t even a patch on the original. Not that Fukrey was the greatest comedy ever made, but it was fresh.
The audience enjoyed shy Lali’s (Manjot Singh) crush on his teacher and even two school bumpkins’ ambitions of attending college.
Fukrey was about the dreams you’re provoked to see by the liberal economy. If others can have the liberty to choose a profession of their choice then why can’t Zafar (Ali Fazal)! In fact, from Bholi Punjaban to Pandit Ji (Pankaj Tripathi), everybody was contributing to the big, urban dream.
They didn’t mind their methods; all they wanted was their share in the money pie. Also, The second half of the movie is plot-heavy and feels a bit stretched out. However, the jokes keep coming which won’t make you feel bored.
Mrigdeep Singh, Farhan Akhtar, and Ritesh Sidhwani has directed this movie and is also showing their interest to make Fukrey 3, but we hope it doesn’t take them four years to do so. Bollywood and its audience is eagerly waiting for the another sequel.
